Sandra King to take the helm of Beaver Trust at crucial time for biodiversity and beavers.

The killing of 87 beavers in Scotland – one fifth of the country’s population – proves there is an urgent need for humans to live more sympathetically alongside beavers across Britain, the Beaver Trust said today.

This letter is to state our whole-hearted support for beavers and the tenets of the Governments’ 25 Year Environment Plan which their restoration will greatly assist.

Verges thick with the hum of butterflies and bees, skies full of swooping peewits and starlings, sluggish streams burbling by, flashing with perch and trout, the verdant thrust of cathedral hedgerows shading cool banks… This was the magnificent cacophony of life that once blessed these small islands, when people lived in relative harmony among the rest of nature. We are one, after all. It’s a deeply-rooted vision that some of us remember well; tragically one that our children and grandchildren may never see.
